The Kid They Laughed At Became An Olympian.

A story about confidence, adversity and the discipline to keep going — for students and young athletes.

Where It Started

Long before Hank Palmer stood on an Olympic track, he was a young athlete in Montréal who was made fun of for running in glasses. That moment didn’t define him — but it’s part of how he talks to students about confidence, and about what it takes to keep going when you don’t yet look the part.

Talent doesn't start as confidence. It starts as a decision.

Hank's message to students isn't about being the fastest in the room. It's about setbacks, goal-setting and the consistent, unglamorous work that stands between where you are and what you're capable of.

  • Confidence.
  • Adversity.
  • Discipline.
  • Potential.

What Students Take Away

Sessions are built around themes schools and youth programs care about most: building confidence through sport, handling setbacks, setting real goals, and doing the consistent work required to believe in your own potential — told through the lens of an athlete who lived it, from a Montréal track to an Olympic final.
